Dane County is looking to the private sector to help pay for major improvements to the Alliant Energy Center’s 58-year-old Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
A request for proposals issued Monday calls for a “transformative renovation” that includes upgrades to building systems along with modernization of guest spaces. According to the RFP, the county is seeking a partner that can help the Coliseum compete with similarly sized venues in the region — and can help it turn a profit.
That partner would be required to continue accommodating major annual events like the World Dairy Expo and the Midwest Horse Fair while making the facility more attractive for other events, like concerts.
